Nw/ton King’s Weekly Report. On Friday, 2Sth instant, notwithstanding tlio very rough weather, there was a good entry at- the Waiwakaiho yards and a good attendance of the public. Yearling cattle were in much improved demand. A good number of store cows were yarded and there was brisk competition. Prices: Yearling steers £2 to £2 17s 6d according to quality, yearling heifers £2 10s, poor mixed yearlings £1 Is, 2-year empty heifers £4 6s, 2-year steers (bad colours) £3 11s 6d, yearling Holstein bull £2 3s, guaranteed 2-year bulls £4 10s to £6, aged cows £1 Is, best store cows £3 10s to £4 6s, others £3 Is to £3 ss, fat cows £5 Bs'to £7 3s bd, dairy cows £7 to £lO, aged £3 12s Gd to £5 10s. springing heifers £6 to £6 15s. At Urenui on Monday there was a small yarding and an excellent attendance. The demand throughout for all classes was very good every line being cleared at the hammer. Dairy cowhand heifers were again of very good quality and sold readily as follows: Best springing heifers £7 17s to £9 10s, good £5 10s to £6 17s Gd, dairy cows £7 5s to £9 15s, aged or late £4 10s to £5 ss, store cows £3 16s to £4 3s, and from £3 3s to £3 11s 6d, fat cows £6 15s to £6 18s, 2-year coloured isteers .£3 Is 6d to £3 3s 6cl ; 2- steers (a fair line) £4 6s Gd. good line grade Jersey yearling heifers £4 4s, empty 2-year heifers good £1 12s 6d to £5 ss, bulls £2 11s to £4 10s, 3- bullocks £5 16s 6d to £5 18s. In the Stratford yards on Tuesday. Ist instant, there was a big entry,
cattle coming forward much above advertised numbers. Buyers were present irom all parts and created quite an excellent demand for all classes, yearling steers and heifers being the most enquired for. Store cows and empty heifers still held their late high rates. A pen of three 2-year bullocks yarded did not reach the reserve this being the only lino not cleared during the day. Four pens of unreserved young cattle made very satisfactory prices.
