THE WHANGAMOMONA. LINE.
TIME-TABLE DtFFICIJLTTES. , At the request of a number of settlers, Mr. J. E. Hine, M.P., some time ago made representations to the Hon W. H. Herries, Minister for Kail ways, asking for a more convenient time-table. . ThHrMinisteF, after goi/if, into the; matter,:>.dias replied ''-to Mr. Hine as follows: “With reference to your letter oi sth instant, in -regard* to the timetable arranged in connection with tin opening of the extension to Pohokura I have the honour to inform you that enquiries have been made in the matter, and it is ascertained that, the existing time-table is the most,-suitable for the majority of the users of the trains. If the 10.20 a.in. train from Stratford ran forward to Pohokura it could not return in time to connect al Stratford with the afternoon mixed trains for Wanganui and New Plymouth. Further, the passengers by tin morning train on Tuesdays, and Sat urdays from Pohokura, * would Tiave only from 8.25 a.m. to 10.20 a.m. ir: Stratford to do business if they wanted to return home the same day. In the circumstances I am of opinion that the existing arrangements should bo given a fair trial and stand until the extension to Whangamoraona is opened.” Mr. Hine does not intend to let the matter rest at this, but will continue to urge the desirability of the alteration requested.
