On Thursday -the • members of the Bowling Club completed the work of making considerable improvements to the inside of the pavillion, etc. The green during the winter has been levelled and top-dressed, and is now in better condition than in previous years, so bowlers can rely on a first-class green. The warden, Mr G. Smart, states that, weather permitting, tho green will be open for practice next Thursday, when, all new members or intending members will bo welcome to engage in ye old© English game of bowls. The opening day is officially appointed for the first Thursday in November, and all intending players are requested to be on the green every Thursday and Saturday before that date. The committee for the Daylight Saving project has not yet met the Tradesmen’s Association or the Chamber of Commerce, but most business people speak favourably of the proposal.
