The Coronet gelding Karalah came from Now Plymouth (says a northern writer) with a great reputation as a sprinter, and was well supported in both the events he contested at Avondale. That everything was not as it should have been with Karalah was evidenced by happenings which occurred after he had competed in the New Lynn Handicap on Saturday. The son of Coronet was being led about the paddock, when he roared a couple of times as if in pain, and then drop ped to the ground. A few kicks and it was all over.
A Sydney cable states that the weather is fine tor the races at Randwick. The principal events to be run to-day are the Epsom Handicap, of 2100 sovs; distance one mile, and the A.J.C. Derby, of 5000 sovs., distance one mile and a half. On Monday the Metropolitan, of 4000 sovs., distance one mile and a half, will be run.
