The Coronet gelding Karalah came from Now Plymouth (says a northern writer) with a great reputation as a sprinter, and was well supported in both the events he contested at Avondale. That everything was not as it should have been with Karalah was evidenced by happenings which occurred after he had competed in the New Lynn Handicap on Saturday. The son of Coronet was being led about the paddock, when he roared a couple of times as if in pain, and then drop ped to the ground. A few kicks and it was all over.
