COURT RETURNS.

FOR THE QUARTER ENDING

SEPTEMBER 30,

The quarterly returns of the Stratford Magistrate’s Court show that during the three months there were thirty-seven sittings of the Court, thirteen of which were presided over by a Magistrate, and twenty-four by Justices of the Peace. The numbei of cases tried was 123; the amount sued for £1987 18s Bd, and the amount recovered £110(3 3s Bd. There were two applications heard in Chambers, and two orders made. One hundred and ninety-three plaints were entered, 13 distress warrants issued, 13 orders made on judgment summonses, five warrant of commitment issued, and 147 summonses served by the bailiff and his, assistants. Five distress warrants were executed, in addit on to two warrants of commitment. Sixtyfive persons were' summoned or taken into custody during the quarter. Fourteen Old Age Pensions were granted. Civil fees collected, including licensing fees, amounted to £136 3s; criminal fees collected £l2 6s. The amount of lines collected was £47 ss.
