Mr. Bell moved the second reading of the Cemeteries Amendment Bill, which provides that land held in fee simple may be set aside as a private burial ground and controlled by trustees appointed by the Minister. This applied only to grounds used as burial grounds in the past, and not so used in the future. The second rading was agreed to, after a brief discussion. Auckland Education Reserves. The Auckland Education Reserves Bill was reported from Committee, and the Council then adjourned as a mark of respect to the memory of the late Mr. Houston.
