The Rev. J. W. Burton, of Whitoloy Church, Now Plymouth, who was appointed Homo Mission “Deputation'’ to the Stratford circuit, conducted the services in. the Wesley Church on Sunday last. The reverend gentleman ca ne to Stratford will a reputation as a forceful and eloquent preacher, and maintained that reputation to the full. On Monday evening he gave an address in the church on “Some Aspects of Home Mission Work.” His remarks word on original lines, and his criticism of existing methods at times decidedly keen. But that they wore appreciated was shown hy the fact that a record response was made to the ippeal for monetary assistance to the Dominion Home Mission Fund. M-. Burton, who was the guest of Mr. mi 1 Mrs. 11. H. Cameron, during his stay in Stratford, returned to New Plymouth this morning.
