KAUPOKONUtBRIDGE COLLISION

Judgment has been given in the case, Wharekopa and Tarama (Mr O’Dea) against L. H. Wilson (Mr Bennett) as follows: The .evidence,; in .my opinion, proves the accident was caused through, the negligence of the defendant in attempting to pass the plaintiff on the bridge, ho having a full knowledge of the difficulty ,in passing owing to the narrowness of the bridge. When one i trap has almost crossed a bridge, it ' is the duty of another trap; about to enter on the bridge from the opposite direction to pull up, unless there is sufficient room for both to pass. The plaintiffs are' therefore entitled to ■judgment in their respective cases. I allow the plaintiff (Wharekepa) costs of repairing his trap,.£l2 15s, and general damages, £10; total £22 15s, with costs.* I allow plaintiff (Tarama) damages as follows Medical attendance, 10s 6d, and general damages, £10; total, £lO 10s 6d, with costs. Total damages allowed, £33 5s 6d, with costs £2O 4s 9d, making a total of £53 108.3 d. ALLEGED FORGING AND UTTERING.' A respectable! looking middle-aged man named Frederick Bailey Muir, appeared at the New Plymouth Magistrate’s Court yesterday morning in answer .to a series of charges of alleged forging and uttering. The cheques were all drawn upon, Muir’s late employer, R. H. Daveney, of Urenui. They were cashed by Mrs MoKoan, of New Plymouth, Mrs S. Harrington, of Waitara, W. Hi Fuller and Bethune, of Urenui, respectively, and totalled £-44. All the offences were committed on Monday, September 23rd. After evidence by Mrs McKean, Mrs Harrington, W. H. Fuller and R. H. Daveney, Muir pleaded guilty to all four charges, and was committed to the Supreme Court at Wellington for sentence.
