On Friday, 13th instant, at my Waiwakaiho yards I had a very good entry of cattle, a good number of yearlings,being yarded. The dairy cows and heifers offered were » second-rate ,lot and bidding of course accordingly. Prices obtained as follows: Two choice coloured Jersey heifers £4 10s and £5 7s 6d, good line of grade Jersey yearling heifers £3 6s, empty heifers £2 10s to £2 13s, small'£l 8s 6d to £1 14s, best yearling steers £2 3s 6d to £2 10s, others-£1 16s to £1 17s 6d, poor and bad coloured £1 2s to £1 9a, Holstein-Jersey 2-year empty heifers £4.15s to £5 ss, grades £3 18s to £4 ss> small £3 7s, good 2-year steers £4 9s, bad' coloured £3 8s 6d to £3 10s, store cows £2 10s to £3 18s, forward cows £4 13s, fat cows £6 2s to £6 s;s, pedigree Jersey bull 15£ guineas, bulls £1 12s 6d to £4 Is, springing f heifers £5 10s to £6 15s, best quality dairy cows, only a few yarded, £9 10s to £lO 10s, dairy cows, poorquality, £3 2«s 6d to £6. In my L-renui yards on Monday, 16, there was a fair entry of cattle with a good demand throughout for all classes, especially fqr dairy heifers, of which some very fine stock were yarded. A small line of mixed hoggets elicited spirited bidding, realising 15s 7d. ..Two good pens of bullocks were entered, one pen of 4 and 5-year olds in' good condition realising £7 ss, while the, other pen of nice 3-year cattle brought £6 5s 6d. Prices realised were: Choice grade Jersey heifers £4 Is 6d, grades £2 2s to £3, small £1 to £1 10s, yearling steers £2 4s to £2 9s, had coloured £1 5s to £l' 10s, empty 2-year heifers £3 18s 6d to £4 4s, £3 for small, .store cows £2 lis to £3 3s 6d and from £3 17s to £4 2s, forward cows £4 12s, fat cows £5 10s to £6, 3-year bullocks £6 5s 6d, 4 and 5-year bullocks £7 ss, springing heifers, best £7 7s 6d to £8 ss, good £5 15s to £6 12s 6d, others £3! 17s 6d to £4 7s 6d, dairy cows £7 10s to £8 5s and £4 15s to £6 2s ,6d, store pigs £1 12s, fat .sheep 495, hoggets 15s 7d, (heavy) £2B 10s. '
On the same day at Douglas I had a very small yarding which realised for yearling heifers £2 9s, 2-year, empty heifers £4, 2-year steers £4 6s,- store cows £3 8s 6d to £4, dairy cows, besc £lO. ,10s; to £l2 2s 6d, others £6 15s springing heifers up to £8 12s 6d. .For my fortnightly sale in the Stratford yards on Tuesday cattle came forward to full advertised numbers. The' attendance of the public,, while not so large as at recent sales, was good, buyers, being present iu good numbers from all parts of Taranaki and Wanganui; Yearlings were in much better enquiry. Good stoiie cows sold very readily. Several good pens of bullocks were offered,' but witfh two exceptions did not reach the reserves. Most of the stock yarded with the exception of some bullocks were cleared during,the.,day;at the following Best yearling' steers £2 16s to £2 18s 6d, good £2 4s to £2 lis, bad coloured £1 ss, best yearling grade heifers £3 3s 6d .to £3 9s, others £2 4s .to £2 '"■' 17s 6s 'empty 'Holstein 2-year heifers £5 2s, grades £3 12s 6d to £4' 45, : 2-year steers £4 ,to £4,7s|'bad coloured £2 18s 1 6d, 3;year bullocks £6 ss, 3 to 4-year bullocks £6 135.6 d, aged store cows';£! ,9s ,to £2 9s", store cows £3 16s to £4 2s (3d, and from £2 17s to £3 IQs, forward cows £4 7s to £4 17s, fat cows £5 16s to £6 7s. Theresas a very heavy entry in the dairy pens, and an excellent inquiry throughout at the following rates: Dairy cows on account of Mr E. L. Lyford, Whangamo'mona,' from £6 10s to £8 15s, aged £2 125..6d 'to£s ss, bulls £7. On ac-' count of Mr S. Pitt springing heifers £7 5s to £lO. On account of Mr. H. Phillips, springing heifers at £8 15s to £ll ss, good £6 5s to £B, small £5 5s to £5 15s, dairy cows £8 15s to £lO ss. On account of other vendors, choice springing heifers from £8 to' £lO 15s, good 1 £6 5s to £7, small £4 ; 15s to £5 ss, dairy cows £7 to £8 ss, second grade £5 10s to £6. On Wednesday, 18 th, at Stony River, I had a very good entry of all classes with a good majority of yearling cattle. Bidding opened slack but greatly improved during the sale, a very, successful clearance being made during the day at the following rates: Store pigs £1 7s, yeading steers, good classes £2 14s 6d to £2 19s, others £1 10s to £1 16s, and £2 5s to £2 Bs, yearling heifers, grades £2 17s to £3 6d,for best, and £1 16s to £1 18s fed for small. Yearling mixed £2 to £2 8s 6d, empty yearling heifers £4 6s to £4 lis, aged cows £5 7s, good store cows £3 2s 6d to £4 Is, forward cows £5,25, fat cows £5 16s, fata heifers £6 Is, bulls £2 to £3 I,ls, Holstein empty cows £4 10s, dairy cows'2nd grade £5 7s 6d to,£6 2s 6d, springing heifers good £6 40s to £7 17s 6d, others £4 10s to .£5.
At Hurford Road, Omata, on Friday, 20th instant, I held a clearing said on account of Mrs S. Glare Fantham. There was an excellent attendance. Most of the dairy cows were either very late or empty, anything close to calving selling very readily at the following rates: Best dairy cows £8 10b to £ll, la to £5 to £6, empty £3 5s .to £4 ss, Ayrshire bull £2 lis, empty sow £2 lis, gig and harness £l6, disc £6 ss,'
On Saturday, 21st, at the New Plymouth Haymarket there was a small entry of pigs which maintained late prices as follows: Weaners lis 6d to 16s 6d, small stores £1 Is to £1 ss, heifer calves 9s.
On Tuesday, 24th instant, afc my Stratford, dairy yards there was a gobd entry and attendance. Bidding throughout was brisk sales being made at the following rates:' On account of Mr R. H. Phillips, dairy cows from .£8 to £l-1 10s, aged £6 to £7 10s, springing heifers £6 5s to £7 13s. On account of Mr John Davis, springing heifers £9 17s Gel to £lO, others £o 10s to £G 10s. On account of other
vendors, dairy cows £8 5s to £9 10s, small £6 to £7 ss, springing heifers, best, £7 10s to £9 12s 6d, others £5 12s 6d, to £6 ss.
At Rahotu on the same day I had a small yarding all of which were cleared during the day at the following prices: Good yearling steers £2 13s .to £2 15s, bad coloured £1 Is to £1 15s empty 2-year heifers £3 18s 6d to £4 ss, fat cows £5 4s, spring heifers, choice Jerseys £lO ss, others £4 49s to £6 15s,' store pigs £l, yearling grade Holstein bulls on, account of Mr R. Morrow, 7 guineas to Hi guineas.
