The writ on the vessel was solemnly nailed on the mainmast t,y a representative of the Coastal Company, and he also nailed -a writ on a plank of the vessel's timber cargo. The captain of the Wanganui was ..ashore at the time, but a handful of spectators o n the'wharf and the crew Avitnessed the deed. The Coastal Steamship Company's action was, however, solely by friendly arrangement with Messrs Hatrick and Co., owners of the Wanganui, i n order to obtain an equitable adjustment by the Admiralty Court, 'which will sit in Wellington and will be presided over by a Supreme Court judge. The cargo of the vessel alone is estimated to be worth over £50,000. Welhngton, September 27.
