New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Co. Report. The New Zealand Loan and Mercantile Agency Co., Limited and Reduced, Stratford branch, report as follows: We held a sale at our Kohuratahi yards on Friday, 13th instant. Owing to the weather being exceptionally rough and to the very bad state of the roads all the advertised stock did not come forward, so the yarding was not so large as was anticipated. There were several buyers from outside in attendance and the sale was fairly good a considerable quantity of stock being sold. 15 to 18-month steers made up to £3 12s, small 2-year old empty heifers £3 12s, 2-year old steers small £4 3s to £4 ss, 3-year old bullocks, nice line, £6 2s 6d.. . At our Stratford yards on Tuesday, 24th instant, we held our usual fortnightly combined sale. There was a fair yarding, more especially of young stock, and there was keen competition, nearly verey line yarded being sold. Mixed weaners small and inferior made 555, yearling steers ,fairly good quality, up to 665, yearling heifers, small 55s to fairly well grown stuff 655, and anything showing quality and colour and suitable for breeding purposes realised from' 75s to 112 s for a very nice line. Store cows 60s to 765, fat iimd forward cows, in : demand, from 110 s to 120 s, whilo a very nice fat cow, on account of a Toko client, realised £8 7s 6d. There were a good number of dairy cows yarded as well as heifers, most of which were sold. The dairy cows were not up to the usual standard and realised from 110 s to 2355. Of the springing heifers, some were not close enough to profit for buyers, but notwithstanding this they sold under good competition from 92s 6d to 162 s 6d.

Since our last report we have sold a considerable quantity of stock privately at the following rates: Mixed hoggets up to 14s; fat wethers 18s 6d to 245; mixed yearling steers, small, 52s 6d to 55s 6d ; yearling steers showing quality 56s to 65s 6d; 2-year old steers £4 2s 6d to £4 ss; 18-month steers 70s; 18-month heifers 70s; 2year old heifers £3 16s to £4 12s 6d; dairy cows from £8 upwards.
