Waharoa led over the first obstacle, and won in hollow fashion by two lengths. Lloyds and Blue Mount fell. Time, 3min 58 3-ssec. Avondale Cup, of 350 sovs; one Hie and a quarter.—l Bleriot, 6.13, 1 : 3 Gold Size, 7.11, 2; 5 Uranium, 7.13. 3 8 Master Wairiki 8.0, 6 Maui Nina 7.9, 2 Prince Soult 7.9, 4 Sea Elf 7.8. 7 Jolie Fills 7.6, 8 Kaween 6.12, 7 Sea Pink 6.11, and 10 Lady Betty 0.", also started. Bleriot finished full of running, and won convincingly l.y a length. Gold Size was a lose in front of Uranium, Sea Elf, finishing fast, being four. Time, 2min 16 2-5 sec.
Steeplechase, of 100 sovs; about three miles.—l Hautere, 11.9, 1; 7 Diiudeen, 9.8, 2; 5 Bonnie Jean, 9.9, 3. 4 The Chief 10.2, 2 Tin Cakobau 10.0, 3 Hunakaha 9.12, 8 Romp 9.7, 6 Stroller 9.7, and. 9 Bump 9.7, also started. The Chief, Romp and Stroller fell. Bump pulled up and Hunakaha ran M at the double the second time round, carrying off Tui Cakobau, who was going very well in second place. Won pulling up by seven lengths, the third horse a hundred yards away. Time, 6min 42 3-ssec.
Islington Handicap, of 100 sovs; seven furlongs.—2 Semolina, 7.1, 1; 4 Cloudy Dawn, 8.2, 2; 1 Watchchain, 82, 3: . 9 Domino 10.3, 13 Taimanupo 8,11, 3 Admiral Soult 8.5, 18 Flying Soult 8.4, 6 Ruatangata 8.3, 7 Scorch 8.3, 10 Regain 8.2, 14 Fuss 8.2, 11 Hyperion 8.0, 7 Tobias 8.0, 8 Surplus 8.6, 5 Goodwin Sands 8.0, and 9 Mas- 1 ter Jack 8.0, also started. Won easily by a length, with a long neck between second and third. Time, Imin 34sec. Flying Handicap, of 100 sovs; six furlongs.—2 Waiowera, 8.3, 1; 5 Royal Irish, 6.12, 2; 1 Monorail, 7.9, 3. Imin 19sec. The going was very heavy. The fie|d's were large, and the racing interesting. The attendance was large. The totalisafcor investments for the day aggregated £15,615, as against £13,443 for the corresponding day of last year.
