AVIATION.

HAIIT RECOVERING

(By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.) (United fress Association.) Sydney, September 22. The aviator Hart is regaining nis memory. His injuries are healing. LINDSAY CAMPBELL'S DEATH.

Regarding the Australian aviator s death at Byfleet at the beginning of last month, the Manchester "Guardian" states that Mr. Campbell secured his pilot's certificate at the Bristol School three weeks before, and had made many successful flights. On_Friday evening (August 2) he was Hying at Brooklands Aerodrome, and gave an admirable exhibition. Early on Saturday morning he was out again on a 50 h.p. Bristol scater of the ordinary type, The conditions were favourable. An eye-witness of the accident says: "It seemed to me that Campbell found he was too high up to effect a convenient landing in the aerodrome, which is about 600 yards away. He then made a circle downwards, and in doing so it seemed to me that he turned a complete somersault. What was more extraordinary, he righted himself when within about 200 ft of the ground, and then started to fly towards Brooklands by making a circle Just as he was making that circle something went wrong, and he camel down like a shot out of a gun. I rushed into the field where he had fallen—it was close by—and I saw him still sitting in the machine. I did not like the look of him, and I said ,'Aro you hurt, sir?' He did not answer, but rolled his eyes, and it seemed to me that he lost consciousness. I then brought the doctor, but the man was dead before the doctor came.' '
