LATE LOCALS.
Mr. "Barney" Fearon, the energetic secretary of tne Stratford A. and P. Association, was particularly busy this morning, tne immediate cause being the compilation of the special prize list and "donations." He reports,
among others, a contribution of ton guineas from Mr. Newton King, and states that New Plymouth business men and others had been responsible for numerous donations. The Taranaki Provincial Scottish Society's Inglewood branch are following the lead given by Stratford, and are holding a gathering at Inglewood on Wednesday, Ist October, to take the form of a Scottish concert and dance. The programme, is a good one, mado up of Scottish songs, recitations, and Highland dancing. A goed number of well known New Plymouth singers will assist, and Stratford will bo represented on the programme by Misses Cameron and Sangster, and Messrs. Walkie and Douglas. There is no doubt the gathering wjj) prove equally as successful as the Stratford one. The Society's secretary (Mr. Alec Honderson) wishes oil tlioeo who intend going to the gathering to notify him before Wednesday morning, so that ho may arrange.
