N.S.W. MILLION CLUB. (Received 11.30 a.m.) London, September 18. Mr Rickards, president of the New South Wales Million Club, gave a luncheon to members visiting London and representatives of financial and shipping interests. Mr Rickards announced that the Club was advancing money to re-unite immigrants and their families, The first shipment of the latter would sail by the steamer Marathon. ( CRICKET. The cricket match, Rest of England against the champion county resulted in a win for the former, who scored 367 (Spooner 130) against Yorkshire’s 167 and 78. Douglas for the victors took seven wickets for 39.
INSURANCE COMMISSION’S MEMO
The Trade Union Congress approved of the Parliamentary Committee’s adherence to the Insurance Commission’s memorandum relating to the transfer and reserved values of insured persons. Ottawa, September 18. Sir Wilfrid Laurier, who is touring Northern Ontario, says reciprocity is still alive, as Canada must secure large markets. The Liberal Party, despite their defeat, would persevere with the Reciprocity Policy, which was best for the countries’ interest. The Hon. George Foster has consummated an agreement with Sir Edward Grey whereby the whole of the British Consular Service will be placed at Canada’s disposal. Thereafter, Canada will develop her own service under the auspices of the British service.
