The Government Meteorologist (Rev. I). C. Bates) telegraphed this afternoon as follows: — Southerly strong winds to gale, decreasing and backing by west,to north. Weather probably cold and changeable. Bain probable. Gold night. Barometer has a. tendency to rise, but fall again after 36 hours.
