PERSONAL.

Mr. and Mrs. 11. N. Liardet wore passengers for Wellington by this morning's mail train. Mr. T. Sullivan, the Borough Overseer, leaves to-morrow lor Napier, on a well-earned three weeks' holiday. Mr. C. N. Baeyortz, editor of the "Triad," is at present on a visit to Now Plymouth. Detective Boddam, of New Plymouth, has recovered from his recent indisposition. Mr. E. Ching, on the warders' stall' of the New Plymouth Gaol, is under order to transfer to Wellington. Mr. P. F. Ealfe, who has been on a short visit to Stratford, left for Wellington by the mail train this morning.

Mr. C. Potts, of Mr. T. H. Penn's stalf) is one of the latest victims of the mump epidemic. The Rev. Father Maples, win has been in charge of the Pvoman Catholic parish, Petono, for some years, has received notice of his transfer to Stratford.

Mr. W. J. Lopdell, foreman and bridge overseer for the Southland County, has been appointed to suc- , ceed Mr. Archer for the Waimate West, County Council. Constable M. Flanagan, who has been stationed in Hawera for three years, has received notice of his transfer to Mokau, where ho will have charge of a large district. Ho will lie succeeded by Constable Warneford, of Mokau, says the "Star." Mr. Rupert Worley, cadet in tho local branch of the Public Works Department, left this morning for Taumarunui, where ho will occupy a position as cadet on the field engineering staff in that district. Mr. Joe Harston has received a cable from London stating that his father, Mr. John Harston, aged 79 years, passed away peacefully at Sew-ark-on-Trent on Tuesday last. Much sympathy will be felt for Mr. J. Haratoh. in his loss.
