THE SYDNEY-AUCKLAND CABLE. Sydney, September 7.

Tlio manager of the Pacific Cable Company states that he expects to start laying the Sydney-Auckland cable early in December.

The flagship Drake returns to England in January, in order to engage new crew as it is available by the Admiralty and before the crew is supplied to the cruiser Australia. Admiralty Hall is to be requested to arrange for the cruiser Melbourne to leave England in January. Sir George Reid advises the Admiralty that he is endeavouring to expedite the construction of the Commonwealth cruiser Melbourne, which will probably bo ready in December; the Sydney may possibly be ready before May, but there is little hope of the Australia being completed before May.

THE GERMANS LINKING TIP. Germany has granted the concession to the Telefunken Coy. The German and Netherland Telegraph Company lias the work of installation of four large coastal wirelss stations on the Telefunken system, linking the German possessions in the Pacific. The first two will be ready in April next. READY MADE FARMERS. Melbourne, September 7. It is reported that a prvate immigration company is forming, with operations covering New South Wales and Victoria, and a capital of half a million under the title of the Australian Farm Company. It adopts the Canadian system to Australia, and one of its objects is to provide farms readymade.
