MINERS SEEK ADVANCE IN WAGES.
London, September 4. At the Miners’ Federation conference in October the surface workers will ask the Federation to secure them ds per day. Another resolution proposes a general advance of 20 pm' cent. THE NEWPORT CONGRESS. (Received 9.50 a.m.) London, September 4. After a heated debate the Trades Union Congress at Newport resolved hy 952,000 to 909,000 that the congress refrains from discussing secular education. IN SYMPATHY. The London and South-Western railwaymen are supporting the St. Male dockers who have struck to reinstate a workman.
