The weather was dull and the attendance small. The wicket was good. Emery was absent with a slight cold. The innings finished with addition of two in 255 minutes. J. T. Hitch secured excellent averages. Hayward and Hobbs opened combined and first wicket foil at 17. Then there was a splendid display. Hobbs at 11 was missed in the long field by Rardsley. Ivot fifty was hoisted in an hour. Hobbs drove Hazlitt with a sixer to tine villiop awning, secured throe fourers in the same over, and reached fifty in f)() minutes. Seven later Hinnett found Ids off stump. The batsman wao hr iliant. Hayes on-played without adding to the score. Tarrant and Bird added 115 for the fifth wicket. Two hundred runs were hoisted in 200 minutes. Tarrant was in 135 minutes. B'rd and Kidd added 95 for t!ho sixth wicket, 300 being hoisted in 270 minutes. Bird was free all round and returned a chance to MacLaren at 81. Kidd was in 85 minutes and hit a fiver. Bird was unbeaten in 175 minutes when stumps were drawn at 5.15 owing to duskiness.
