o THE LADIES’ TOURNAMENT. (Per Press Association.) Nelson, September 3.' Glorious weather prevailed for the continuation cf tlie golf/chamoionship tournament. The fourth round of the championship produced easy wins for Misses Collins an< Pearce, whereas Mrs. Slack and MisWood, and Mrs. Williams and Miss Burncs had tremendous struggles which caused groat excitement. 'fin wins of Mrs. Slack have been hard fought for, and the victory of Miss Barnes over Mrs. Williams was after a brilliant finish. The bogey senior handicap was won by Miss Tweed, L' up. In the junior handicap Mrs. McLean and Miss Davies tied with ■' down. To-morrow semi-finals will be played, Miss Collins meeting Mrs hack, and Miss Pearce meeting Mis: Barnes. At the New Zealand Ladies’ Golf Union it was resolved that the championship he held not earlier than September, and that the centre holding it notify at the previous annual meeting the date on which it will begin; that the inter-Mand contest be played by match play, nine a side ; that in future the draw for partners in handicap events at the championship meeting he arranged in three grades—vise., 0 to 12. 13 to 20, and over 20, instead of tin* present grading of 0 to 15. and over 15. Tiie date of the next championship was fixed for September 10, 1913. at Nanier, and the date of the Coronation Medal Handicap for the last Friday in May. The secretary’s report shows that tlr* affiliated chibs had increased from 32 to 38, with a membership of 2509. hast year’s credit balance was (.‘2O Ids 9d, and this year’s Cl 5 5s 9d, the apparent decrease being owing to tin l cost of last year’s medals coming into this year’s account.
