The Federal Government fund of 3875 bags, containing one thousand pounds each, took nearly a week to remove to the new Commonwealth building. The weight was thirty tons.
BONUS DEGRADING TO MOTHER HOOD.

The State president of the Women's Christian Temperance Union, at the annual meeting, said the maternity bonus did not commend itself to the union, as it seemed patronising arid degrading to motherhood, and almost as a premium to crime. Ft would be far 'better to spend money on subsidising institutions that quietly gave succour to the needy.
