The Marton Club's spring meeting takes place to-morrow, and judging by the splendid acceptances received, the Club should liave a first-class meeting. * * * Nine horses were booked to leave Hawera for Marton this morning but Stratford is not sending a solitary representative. Timothy, who is now trained by 0. Cox, will'make his debut as a hurdler to-morrow. He jumps very well, but will want seasoning before one could like his chance against Nescot, Golden Loop, and some others in the race. 1 * * *

Postilion (Advance— Lady Spec), who claims nn engagement in the Maiden at Marton, is trained by Fred Tilley. He is very fast, and should ho carry the confidence of his party, is sure to keep Serenity busy. 1 * * *

Princess Flo, a stable mate of Timothy, has accepted for the maiden at Marton, but on track form can have no chance. * * # Patriotic has been moving nicely in his work lately. He will need to show his best form to beat horses like Crown Pearl and Styx. * * * The connections of Kilrain are very confident about the result of the Marton Handicap, in which event he will meet Sir Tristram, who showed excellent form at Trentham. * * * Some very .smart hacks have paid up for the Electric, including Outward COrmond's), who ran third at thelate Trentham meeting, and Aritiatia (Prosser's), who is reported as very fast. * # # Hakari is opposed to an ordinary lot in the Hack Steeple, and will probably start first favourite. * # * The Native has been paid up for in the Tutaenui Welter, Serenity is also (-ngaged, but may .start in the Maiden earlier in the day. * * #• Master Sylvia has been galloping well at New Plymouth. The son of Sylvia Park is well forward as far as condition goes. * * *

Galtee, who is very gross just now, will probably start at the Taranaki Hunt Club meeting. The black son of Coronet has been nominated for the sprint hack events at the Wanganui spring meeting. 1 * * *

J. Butler has lately taken in hand a filly (Advance—Kaimere) who should pay her way later on. 1 "* # *

Joe Wade has Millbanks looking nice and bright. The son of Linstock will not make his appearance until the Waverley meeting. * * * Astor (Coronet— Clonpett), an inmate of C. Jackson's stable, is one of the nicest youngsters training at Egmont. His owner recently refused £IOO for the son of Coronet. * * * Mr. S. Pitt did not nominate either Master Tupuhi or Red Lupin for Wanganui. The latter is looking very nice just at present, and will be given a run at Avondale this month. * * * An offer of £l5O was recently made for the Coronet —Lady of the Lake colt, owned by Messrs. Budge and Good. The colt in question is a half brother to those smart sprinters, St. Toney and Makara. Phrosis, who won the Ladies' Bracelet at the recent Wanganui Hunt Club's gathering, is an- Australian-bred un. He cost his present owner somewhere in the vicinity of £6O. * * * The Coronet—Rau Ran gelding in Dick Brough's stable is furnishing nicely, and will be heard of the back end of the season. * * * The stallion St. Paul, now twenty years old, was offered by auction at Hawera on Saturday. He did not reach the reserve, being passed at £lO5. * * * The Stratford-owned Crawford, who was operated on recently, has joined Tom Goddard's team at Hawera. * * *

Silver Rose (Sylvia Park—Polly). a full sister to Seaman, won tbo second hack race at the Wanganui Hunt Club meeting. She has the reputation of having pace, and will be given a chance to distinguish herself in the Electric at Marton. * * * Royal Marine is putting in great work' on the Egmont track. He is engaged at Dannevirke next week, and will be worth watching. # * * Golden Dream, a full sister to Bow Bells, was sold at Hawera recently for £9. * * # Two of J. Butler's team, in The Dodger and Connie, arejiaving an easy time at present.
