Hie Chief Justice yesterday gave judgment in an originating summons brought to determine whether the South Canterbury Hospital and Charitable Aid Board was entitled to recover from the Hawke’s Bay Education Board moneys paid by a former hoard for maintenance at the industiial school of the illegitimate chilof a woman who had resided in Hawke’s Bay before their birth.. His Honor said plaintiffs were not entitled to sue defendant board. CHRISTCHURCH SESSIONS. ■Christchurch, May 29. Alex. Marshall, late manager of tiio Christchurch branch of Stewart Dawson’s, pleaded guilty to the theft of £IOO, and was committed to the Supreme Court for sentence. Evidence showed a shortage of £7OO, which accused’s friends refunded. Subsequently a further shortage was discovered which is the basis of the present charge. PALMERSTON NORTH DIVORCE CASES. Palmerston, May 29. In the Supreme Court to-day Mr Justice C hapman granted decrees nisi iu the following undefended divorce cases; Francesca Marta Max v. John Max, on the ground of desertion ; Clara Iskirka v. John Lskirka, for desertion and drunkenness; Isabel Grace Nation v. Charles Cecil Nation, for adultery ; Elizabeth Ann Partridge v. George Partridge, for habitual cruelty and drunkenness; Timothy O’Sullivan v. Sarah Jane O’Sullivan, for adultery; Johanna Fredericka Baigent v. Andrew Baigent, for desertion; Bertha Lnrnia Thompson v. George Albert Thompson, for adultery; Sarah Ann Pieicering v. Matthew Edward Pickering, for desertion ; John Francis Booth v. Bridget Booth (respondent) and Frederick Coates (co-respond-ent), for adultery. Charles W. Black, builder, was refused a discharge from bankruptcy for twelve month's on account of the reckless manner in which ho had undertaken contracts and misled creditors hv a false balance-sheet.
