THE BOY SCOUTS.

THE WELLINGTON GATHERING. (Per Association.) Wellington, May 2!). The General was given a civic reception at the Town Hall. The Mayor, Mr !). McLaren, welcomed General BaderPowell to Wellington, and spoke appreciatively of the Boy Scout movement. General Baden-Powell spoke of the widespread and growing interest in the Scout movement. He was glad to see the progress it had made in New Zealand, especially as there was here a definite form of good training. 'That training was the outcome of good citizenship, because every good citizen should have a desire to defend his home.

His Excellency the Governor presided at General Baden-Powell’s lecture in the Town Hall to-night, which was well attended. Lord Islington expressed his high appreciation of the Boy Scouts organisation, saying that it tended towards a good and patriotic manhood.
