At the Totalisator Commission information was •submitted on behalf m the Premier of Queensland, specially obtained by the Agent-General in l.oadon, stating that the abolition of bookmakers in France resulted liom scandals and their enormous profits. The consensus of opinion in franco was that the abolition was bon; ficial, and bad a salutary effect. It bad rot affected horse-breeding, but made for straighter betting.
