HAWERA LAND SALE.

SOME BIG PRICES. On Saturday last, at Hawera, the New Zealand Lean and Mercantile Agency Co., Ltd., held an important auction sale of land on account of various vendors. The catalogue included some of the finest dairying land in the vicinity of Hawera, and the acreage submitted totalled over 2200 acres. The attendance was the largest and most representative ever seen in Taranaki, and although special arrangements had been made, the accommodation was. taxed to its utmost. The eagerness with which the good lots were competed for clearly showed the excellent demand for first quality land still existing. Considering that the greater portion of the sections sold carried no buildings, the prices obtained said the auctioneer, can be looked upon as eminently satisfactory. The first submitted was on account of Mi- Charles Goodson, and the following s;des were effected under the hammer: — Lot 7: 50} acres, to Walter Standish'at £SO 10s per acre.
