Greymouth, May 21
An inquest was held to-day touching the death of Mrs Cassidy, who was found dead at Paroa last night. Evidence showed that deceased had evidently fainted and fallen into the fire. A verdict of death, from suffocation was returned.
Dunedin, Mav 21
At a meeting of the Otago Hockey Association to-night a motion was carried unanimously acceding to the request of the Defence Department that the Association should forego its matches on June 1, to enable a review of Junior Cadets and Boy Scouts to be held hy General Sir R. S. BadenBowel!.
Gore, Mav 21
A house owned by Tims’. Hickey, jun., at Waikaia, and occupied by his father and sisters, was burned down on Friday night. The occupants attended a social. The house was all right at eight o’clock, hut the fire was discovered by neighbours half a mile away at nine o’clock. Nothing was saved. The house was insured in the Commercial Union Office for £l2o. The loss is estimated at £IOO over the insurance. The origin of the fire is a mystery.
