An industrial arrangement betweei the mine-owners and the Thames Miners' Union has been definitely arrang ed. The general conditions and hour! of labour are the same as in the oh award, with a special clause added pro viding that in contracting, where tin whole of the contractors are co-part ners and no wages men are employed no percentage is to be kept back foi a longer period than one mouth. Th< only recognised holidays are fron, Christmas Day to January .'!, inclu sive, and Miners' Union Day. Tin schedule of wages as agreed on shows an all-round 'increase over the ol< award, and is an increase on the exist ing Waihi agreement. The matte: was arranged at a friendly conferenc. between the representatives of i'}.< miners and the companies.
