The Presbyterian Assembly lias concluded its deliberations, iho question of the union of churches was carried. An amendment was moved disapproving the clauses regarding the appointment of ministers. It was decided to forward the amendment to the General Assembly of Australia, without committing itself to the scheme of policy as a whole. AN ALTERNATIVE PLAN. (Received IG. 11.30 a.m.) Melbourne, May 16. Tiio Presbyterian Assembly agreed to urge the union of the churches. The committee allows the scheme <:f settlement in and tenure of pastoral office at present in operation in the Presbyterian Church to remain as an alternative to the scheme embodied in the proposals.
