BUTTER AND CHEESE. Following is a copy of the report (dated March 28th) received by Mr. Newton King from R. and W. Davidson, Glasgow— Butters.—We have again to report very slow and irregular markets for all grades of butter. The coal strike still continues, but as the men’s leaders have decided to take another ballot, asking them if they are prepared to resume work, it is fully expected that the majority will decide in returning to the mines as early as possible, and in this case trade, all round should be much better. In the meantime, buyers continue to only' secure their actual requirements'. ' Prices generally are considerably reduced l . The weather during the past week)-ha's been quite spring-like, and this slgmld have, t!iq effect of hurrying forward the Home production. Continental Butters : The demand this week ha's’‘been veryslovli, and considerable stocks, are left iOvdr unsold. Telegraphic ( adviqes yesterday, from Copenhagen state that the market there was very dull, and the quotation to-day has been declared four kroner down. Danish and Swedish: The arrivals this week of Danish show a decrease of 3125 casks. Owing to the continuance of the labour troubles the market has been very depressed, and considerable quantifies .are Iqft, .pyer in the cellars unsold., Everybody, is only buying what is absolutely^necessary to keep things going. We qtiotc choicest quality 133 s to 1 13Is. Siberian: Arrivals total dully 3000 ca;;ks; the demand, in sympathy with other butters, lias been somewhat restricted, choicest new fresh goods are obtainable at 122 s to 1245, with secondary qualities 114 s to 118s.'-Wires received from Siberia indicate that the market there is somewhat easier. Colonial Butters.—Australian: Arrivals this week comprise the s.s. Macedonia, with 17,000 , boxes, Theraistocles, with 1350, Cube with 8050, and Ballarat with 2650. The market has been exceptionally dull and irregular, any business passing has been for only small quantities and at easier prices. We quote strictly choicest quality at 120 s to 1225, secondary descriptions are now too plentiful, and are very slow of sale, prices for tin's grade llfis to 118 s. Strictly fancy quality of unsalted is in good demand, and may be quoted 12 is to 12Gs, secondary quality is at the moment almost unsaleable. New Zealand: The s.s. Ruapehu, with 46.000 boxes, Delphich 4750, are both discharging this week. ’The demand at the moment is ■slow, and prices are 2s to 3s lower since last week. Choicest quality 122 s to 1245, with a favourite brand occasionally making Is more. Imports to the United Kingdom: The total figures up to 23rd March of tin’s year, and for the corresponding period of 1909, 1940 and 19117 are as follows:—1909, 1.050.339 cwt. ; 1910, 1,017,898 cwt. ; 1011, 1,194,484 cwt.; 1912, 1,061,979 cwt.

Cheese.—Canadian ; There is very litlo stock now' on offer, and consequently the market remains firm choicest white and coloured 75s to 765. New Zealand: The demand during tin past week has been somewhat quieter, and prices have an easier tendency, choicest .white and coloured 74s to 74s 6d. Imports to the United Kingdom: The total figures up to 23rd March of this year, and for the corresponding period of 1909, 1910, and 1911, arc as follows:—1909, 388,449 cwt.; 1910. 370.578 cwt. ; 1911, 3S3.llocwt. ; 1912 375,204 cwt.
