MR. LAURENSON’S VISIT.

AT NEW PLYMOUTH AND INGLEWOOD. The lion. Mr Lanrenson and Mrs Lanrcnson paid a visit to Inglewood and New Plymouth yesterday. A short stay was made at Inglewood, where a hearty welcome was extended to the Minister by his Worship the Mayor, Mr Bennett, and the Inglewood Liberals. There was _ quite a large audience, and the Minister created a favourable impression when he spoke in reply to the toast of his health. Leaving Inglewood, a quick ran was made to New Plymouth, where the party were met by the Liberal Federation, the Chairman of the Hospital Board, and a number of prominent citizens. The Labour Party' delegates interviewed the Minister, and after lunch, Mr Okey, M.P., accompanied the Minister to the Recreation Ground and afterwards went to the petroleum works. The Minister was greatly impressed with the future of the oil works. During the stay, the question of obtaining a portion of the Prison Reserve for workmen’s houses was brought under the notice of the Minister, and he' promised to do what he.could for them in obtaining a portion of it. Mr Lanrenson was delighted with his trip through North Taranaki, the number of small holdings and the nice homes of the farmers coming in for very favourable ecu-ment. Mi s Steven and Mrs C. D>.
