HEAVY SEA
CREW’S NARROW ESCAPE
New York, May 6,
The steamer Vosburg is stranded at the entrance to the Nehalem River, Oregon. Heavy seas broke over the vessel during the night, making it impossible to rescue the crew. Combers swept a great hole in the bows of the Vosburg. Finally, after hours of effort, the Government life-saving crew put off in the lifeboat and managed to rescue the crew, who were in the last stages of exhaustion.
