PIGEON SHOOTING.
GUN CLUB FORMED IN MANAIA. A meeting was held at the Manaia Hotel for the purpose of forming a local gun club. There was a very good attendance, and letters were received from intending members at Awatuna, Pihama, Otakcho, and otiier The'convenor, Mr. G. D. McKenzie. who, occupied the chair,, in explaining the purpose of the meeting said there was a general desire for the formation of a gun club in Manaia. It was healthy sport, it provided an interesting' and popular pastime in the open, and he was sure there would be a large membership. On the motion of Mr. MacDonald ii was resolved that a gun club be formed in Manaia, that Mr, A. G. Bennett be president, and Mr. T. Rogers secretary and treasurer. It was unanimously resolved'that the Hon. T. Mackenzie be patron of the club. ! It was stated that the membership at. present numbers 37, which was oon- • sidered to be a very encouraging start. A vote of thanks was passed to Ms McKenzie for his gift of a pigeon trap, and he also gave the club the use of his paddock until a more suitable ground had been secured. It was decided to affiliate with the New Zealand Gun Club. It was also decided that the nexl match be held on May 15th.| The meeting concluded with a vote of thanks to the convenor. I
