DOMINION STATISTICS.

TRADE AND POPULATION. (Per Press Association.) Wellington, May 2. The value of the goods imported to New Zealand during the quarter ended March 31st was £5,517,689, compared with £4,577,334 in the corresponding three months of 1911. The exports for the same quarter of each year were: 1912, £8.228.993; and 1911, £8.224,499. The Customs duties collected during the quarter ended last March totalled £814,911, as against £767,687 for the corresponding period of 1011. The estimntrd population of New Zealand on March -Vlr.f (exclusive of Maoris and Cook Islanders) was 1,031,500. This is an increase of 6091 since December 31st, made up as fol-lows:—-Excess of births over deaths, !•">")!); excess of arrivals over departures 1535. The arrivals during March last numbered 3305, and the departures 1674. In March. 1911. there were 287! arrivals and 44S] depr.rtu.Vts.
