NECESSITY; REGISTER
Following is a copy of a notice recently issued by the Minister for Defence:—
Notice is hereby given' that - every male inhabiting,,,l|;i,ble to military training, who;111!to; not already regia- 1 tered, must or before May 31st, 1912, as follows: — All male persons who will have on May 31st attained the age of fourteen years or upwards, but will not have attained the age of twenty-two years, who have not already registered. This does not mean that any one who was over the age of twenty-one last year'when the scheme came into operation is affected. The age of twenty-two only refers to those of them who neglected to register last year.
All boys attending any high school, college, secondary school or other scholastic institution or organisation who will attain or have attained fourteen years of age on May 31st, 1912, must register. Registration may ho made by the school authorities on behalf of the boys.
All boys attending any primary school who will attain or have attained fourteen years of age on May 31st, 1912, must register. Registration of J . . * hoys attending primary schools may be made by the school authorities on behalf of the boys.
All male persons temporarily absent from the Dominion, not previously registered, and liable to register in terms of the original notice of April 10th, 1911, must do so within two months of their return.
All male immigrants between the ages of fourteen and twenty-two must register within six months after arrival in the Dominion.
All male persons who, owing to change of residence, have ceased to reside in an exempted area, must register within thirty days of ' such change of residence t'o an area not so exempted. All persons liable must fill in a prescribed form of registration in respect of military training under the Defence Acts and post or deliver same to the Area Sergeant-Major of the territorial area in which the applicant for registrati on rosicl es. Forms of registration may he obtained at any military office, post office or police station.
Any person to whom this notice applies who fails to take any step necessary to secure his registration as aforesaid, is liable to a line of £5, and shall not he eligible for employment in any branch of the Government service, or, on reaching the ago of twen-ty-one, to he enrolled as an elector under Division II of the Legislature Act, 1908.
