VARIOUS TRAGEDIES.
Sydney, April 29. Tacky Lacey, an aboriginal, lias been sentenced to death for criminally assaulting Mrs. Goldsmith, aged 91, on February 14. His victim subsequently died. At the trial of Skinner for the murder of a farmer named Watson, the jury were locked up for two days', ami finally disagreed. At the inquest on Clarice Varker (not Baker), found in a storm-water channel, an open verdict was returned. The evidence disclosed no fresh facts. Melbourne, April 29. Pfeifer has been executed for the murder of his sister-in-law in December last. (Received 30, 10.20 a.m.) Sydney, April 30.' At the trial of Pancock for shooting Poison, accused, in his defence,'-stat-ed that Poison followed him round town. He was very frightened at the time of the sheeting. The jury returned a verdict of manslaughter, and. accused was imprisoned till the rising of the Court. (Received 30, 9.55 a.ih.) London, April 29. William Ward, arrested at Perth o' a murder charge, has been remanded.
