COMPETITION FOR BADGES.
Of late, the local hoys have been very busy endeavouring to secure some of the numerous badges, which are the reward of applied labour, diligence, and skill. On Thursday night some thirty of the boys put in a good course of physical training, and several sat for their Master of Arms badge. To-day the boys are visiting Mr S. H. James’s tannery, the Leather Worker’s badge being in view. On Monday afternoon a number of Scouts will endeavour to secure thfir Ambulance badge. Jt should bo mentioned with regard to the visit to Wellington, that General Baden-Powell has been written to, asking that he would agree to the programme of welcome, which does not appear to be in accordance with the wish expressed in his letter.
