Engineer’s Report. Tenders.—Tenders have boon invited, closing to-day, for contract No. ,‘Jo (Mangaelm Road metalling), and for contract No. 40 (formation of 20 chains of Poarangi Road). In making the engineering survey of the Poarangi Road, 1 carried it on to Mr Schnidor's

a distance of 33 chains, but have made plans for only 20 chains as I doubt if the intyiey available will carry the work further. Kerrisk’s formation contract on this road is in progress. The contractor is experiencing great difficulty in obtaining sufficient labour. A commencement lias been made with *the building of small bridge on this road authorised at last meeting. Murcott Road Bridge.—Repairs to this have boon completed. The bridge gang have also screwed up the Coper MangaeJm Road bridge (near Mr Mounsey’s). Matirangi Road Bridge.—A commencement Ims been made with the repairs to this bridge. Tawliiwhi Road.—The formation work on this road is well in hand, and proceeding satisfactorily. Ma rco Road Formation.—-This work is approaching completion. Poarangi Road Formation.—Tide work is also nearly completed. Pakeho Hoad Formation.—This work is well in hand. The Strathmore Riding foreman has been engaged during the month in general surfacing and repair work, chiefly on Makahu Road. The Central Riding Foreman has keen similarly engaged, principally on Putikituna, Were., and Kohuratahi Roads. The Tahora Riding foreman lias been carrying out repairs to Tahora, Moki, Mangaourata, and Whitianga Roads. The large pipe procured some time back for renewing a culvert on Ohara Road near Ngatimaru will be put in without further delay.
