THE BINGARA TRAGEDY.
BALL SENT TO THE SUPREME COURT FOR TRIAL. FOR MURDER OF HIS WIFE. Sydney, April 23. Ball has been sentenced to death for the murder of his wife at Bingara AN “INGENIOUS DEFENCE.” (Received 24, 9.20 a.m.) Sydney, April 24. Ball’s defence is that his wire was suffering agony owing to illness. He entered the room and saw her struggling on the flour and foaming at the mouth, having taken carbolic. He shot her because he pitied her suffering. He was convinced that she was practically dead when he shot her. He always loved his wife and never quarrelled with her. Ho must have been mad to turn the body.
