THE ENGLISH COAL STRIKE. (By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright.' (United Press Association.) London, April 16. The South Wales enginenicn and stokers declared the strike off simultaneously. They protested that the minors’ loaders had betrayed trade unionism by coercing the Enginemen’s Association. Mr Wilson, a Labour member of the House of Commons, has received £250 from tlie Ncav Zealand Press Fund to relievo strike distress in West Houghton. OTAGO DAILY TIMES FUND. Dunedin, April 16. The Daily Times’ fund in aid of the women and children avlio are suffering as a result of the coal strike in Britain Avas closed to-night. The total sum raised is £1543 ISs. SYDNEY TRAMWAY WAGES. Sydney, April 16. The Wages Board award has increased traniAvay electrical employees’ rates sixpence to a shilling per day. GENERAL STRIKE IN PERU. (Received 17, 10.5 a.pi.) Lima, April 16. There is a general strike. The Ohicama sugar plantations have boon burned, and many persons killed and iniurcd Troops are hastening to the scene.
