STRATFORD A. AND P. ASSOCIATION.
THE GYMKHANA. Naturally enough holiday-makers prefer as a rule to go where the crowd goes, and on Thursday next the crowd will be filling that compact wellmanaged estate, the Stratford A. and P. Association's showgrounds. That a fete is being held will be made plain by gay bunting flying and a general activity within the grounds with bright music playing, guaranteed to charm the ear. As a further evidence that something special is occurring, the roads leading to the showgrounds will be lined with horsemen and with vehicles conveying human freight on pleasure bent, and pleasure they will get in plenty under most pleasing conditions. To meet the requirements of country visitors who may have to leave thoir homes before lunch, the caterer has decided to put on lunch at the reasonable charge 'of one and sixpence, so that visitors will be enabled to drive direct to the grounds if they wish to do so, and be sure of getting a meal. Lunch will be served in the stewards' luncheon room while afternoon tea will be put on in the produce pavilion. Fruit and lollies will be sold from a spacious tent. As previously arranged, anyone requiring hot water will be able to get it from the caretaker. A number of tables have been distributed under the pine trees for the convenience of picnic parties. Ample accommodation has been provided for the reception of horses and traps in securely fenced paddocks. No less than forty additional entries have been received, and with those already in the programme, should make a really splendid day's
sport. As the entry Ksts do not close until 8 p.m. to-nigiht, it may bo safely assumed that the extra entries will easily reach fifty. The extra entries arc already so numerous fiat the programme will be printed and distributed to those who purchased programmes, and may lie bad on application to the socretary or may be had from the secretary's office on the showgrounds on Thursday. The buckjumpers have already been secured for the Imckjumping event, and it is likely others will be secured. ,
