AMUSEMENTS.

HIS MAJESTY'S THEATRE. There, was a crowded and enthusiastic audience yesterday evening at His Majesty's Theatre, to witness the production of a highly interesting programme. Among the earlier pictures the "Thief and the Girl" aroused some enthusiasm, and "Torpedo Firing" was keenly followed, this picture, illustrating torpedoers in action, being highly interesting. The second part of the programme began with the famous star film "It's Never Too Late to Mend." This film is an intensely interesting one. The opening pictures depict the first pages of Charles R-oade's famous story, bringing in most of the principal actors in the story, including the master villain, .John Meadows. Some of the films are

highly dramatic, those showing the prison life of forty years ago, and illustrating Josephs on the punishment crank, and his death after being put into the straight-jacket, being exceptionally so. The climax of this portion of the story is reached when Josephs' dead and emaciated body is brought in as evidence against Governor Hawes. The films showing the hero's adventures in Australia are very realistic and thrilling. Mr. Alfred Loothman, tho well-known elocution;st, gave a good explanation of the' films as they were produced, his work being much appreciated by the audience. The orchestra played appropriate music throughout, and the patrons of His Majesty's Theatre spent a very enjoyable and entertaining even- " Vt's Nev-r Too Late to Mend" will be shown for the last time this evening, its place being taken by five new nicturrs to-morrow evening. Lorna Drone was an' exceptionally fine film, be'mr onlv eclipsed by "It's Never Too Late to Mend."
