'(Per Press Association.) ,j ~ Nelson, April 15. John, Duffiu employed at ?Filar’ 0 sawmijl, Croixclles, was fatally injured on Saturday afternoon. He was engaged trucking in logs from the hush when he fell, a wheel almost severing his leg. Duffiu died early on Sunday morning. AVellington, April 15.
At the Police Court Archie Doran was fined £lO for sly-grog selling and John Pearson and Archibald West, who were present when Doran’s residence was raided, were fined £3 each. An old three-storied wooden building in Manners Street was partially destroyed by fire yesterday. It is owned by,Air Morgan Grace and insured in the Sun Office for £IOOO ami in the Commercial Union for a like amount. The contents were insured as follows: Walling, hairdresser and tobacconist, £l5O in the Guardian; Curacy, basket-maker, £IOO in the Victoria; Miss Cooper, florist, £2OO in the Australian; Manning, £4OO iri the Commercial Union. The other tenants were uninsured.
The budding at Hatadai in which Cope, storekeeper, carried on business, was owned by Air AV. H. S. Moorehouse and was insured in the Guardian office for £IOSO and thi contents in the Standard for £IOBO.
