Matthews and Bennott’s Report. Messrs Matthews and Bennett report :—There was a poor yarding of cattle in opr Inglewood yards on Wednesday last,., prices being about the same. Quotations: Woaners, £1 to £1 12s; Jersey weaiicrs, £2 2s; Sicifers,. £3 Is to £3 3s; steers, £2 12s ■ to £2 10s; store cows, £2 to £3; balls, £1 10s to £3. ~ ' " 1 r ’’ ‘ 1 n:i HA.WERA HORSE FAIR. - . Messrs Gillies and Nakler commenced their autumn horse fair in the Princes street Bazaar, Hawera, on Thursday. There was a very good attendance of buyers, and an excellent entry of horses. Previous to: the sale three, telegrams were received staling that the Sydney market was not of the best just now, and this had a tendency to cause prospective buyers to be cautious. However, the fair, under the. conditions prevailing, was considered; satisfactory, for anything that was good sold well. Principally draughts' and half-draughts were offered, the range of prices being £37, £33, and £4O; lighter sorts fetched from £25 to £3O, and milk-carters commanded from £ls to £25. A pair of nicelyconditioned fillies realised £SO. The fair was continued to-day under favourable weather conditions.
