THE NEW CABINET.
HON. OOLYIN OPTIMISTIC. (Per Preaa Association.) Hokitika, April 10. The Hon. Jag. Colvin, Minister of Mines, was met to-night by a deputation from the Westland County Council in respect to a number of local 11 requirements. All the matters brought under his notice, he said, would receive his favourable consideration' and attention. In the course of his reply to expressions of welcome to the district, the Minister said that he was of opinion that the Ministry was an able, thoroughly honest and straightforward one. He predicted that Mr Payne and other Labou: members would vote with the presen '<■ Govtit nment for the next three yoa r s, and that if there was an appeal to the country before then he bell wed the present Government would go back with a fair majority, and that Siv Joseph Ward would yet be ;.sked to again leal the Liberal Party, air Colvin leans to-morrow morning fo Croyr.ioutli. where he is to he ent !M > tr-ud id ten evening.
