VALEDICTORY.
REV. C. C. HARRISON. A very enjoyable evening was spent by those who gathered m the Methodist Church last evening to bid the departing Minister, Rev. C. C. Harrison, fSirewell. The social being opened in the usual method, the senior circuit steward, Mr J. Masters, spoke for a few minutes on the splendid work accomplished by the Rev. C. C. Harrison during the three years of his stay, stating that the church was in a far better’ position both spiritually and .financially than when Rev. Harrison first came, the membership having increased by about 21, and the finances being better by about £4OO. He spoke a few words of well-merited praise to Mrs. Harrison and wished mem God-speed to their new circuit. Mr J. W. Boon, the Sunday school superintendent, on behalf of the Sunday school and C. E. Society, expressed his regret at losing the Rev. Harrison, mentioning also the work done by the encouragement received from him during the No-license fight of 1911, at the same time speaking very highly of his wife. Mr F. Vv. Clemo'w then presented to Mr Harrison, as a mark of the high esteem in which his congregation held him, a watch guard with a gold shield and pendant, and Mrs Riera, on behalf of the Ladies’ Guild and other ladies of the church, presented Mrs Harrison with a silver sugar basin and cream jug (with stand), expressing the regret of the ladies at losing one whom they had come to reverence and to love.
Mr Harrison, in replying on behalf of himself and family, thanked his well-wishers for the highly valued presents they had given them, stating that it would not need any material token to remind them of the many hours of happiness they had spent in Stratford. He stated he had never felt such keen regret at leaving any circuit as he did at leaving this one. During the evening, solos were rendered by Mrs G. Bond (vocal), Miss M. Hopkins (viol'n), and the organist, Mr J. H. Thompson.
Mr Harrison and family leave on Saturday to take up duty in the new circuit.
