THE NAVY LEAGUE.

A QUESTION OF TRAINING. (Per Press Association.) Timaru, April 4. . The annual conference of the Canterbury branch of the Navy League was held here to-day, Professor Blunt presiding. The chief discussion centred in, a proposal by the Timaru branch that H.M.S.. Dart, now lying in Sydney Harbour and for sale by the Admiralty, should be purchased as a training ship for New Zealand boys. The scheme was considered too big for the League to undertake. A motion was passed that a sub-com-mittee should gather information on the subject of extending the present system of sea training for New Zealand boys, with a view to urging the Government to enlarge the accommodation provided by the training ship Amokura. Mr Craigie, M.P., is ,to be asked to bring the matter before the House.
