Sheepskins: 4838 were offered and the bulk were sold to fair competition. Merinos were practically unchanged with a slight upward tendency. All crossbreds advanced one-eighth to a farthing. South Sea bulk £24 17s Gd. At the Antwerp wool sales 4525 bales of La Plata were offered, and 2334 were sold. Merinos were three per cent above February rates and crossbreds 5 to 7 per cent. VICTORIAN WHEAT CROP. (Received 1, 9.35 a.m.) Melbourne, April J. The wheat crop for 1911-12 is 20,000, 877 bushels. The average is 9.G5 per acre, against 34,813,000, an average of 14.5, in the previous year. RECORD CUSTOMS REVENUE. Gisborne, March 31. The total amount of revenue col-k-tted wt the local Customhouse for the financial year ending yesterday *<u £58,399 2s 3d, as against £58,87! |« Gd for the last year. The Customs duties collected this year amounted to £54,454, which is a record Glancing back over the figures for the past eleven years it is found ti.av the amount collected in Customs duties at Gisborne has quadrupled since 1901-2.
Nev/tcn King's Weekly Report. At my Kaponga. yards on Friday, 22nd inst., my yards were filled with weaners and cows. The demand for the latter was good. Weaners were harder to quit, but were mostly cleared at late rates. Weaners, rmixed, £1 lis to £1 10s; poorer, 7s 6d to IGs; weaner steers, 17s to £1 8s; weaner heifers, £1 3s to £1 10s Gd; yearling heifers, £1 17s; 2-year empty 'heifers, £4 Is to £4 2s 6d; store cows, £2 4s 6d to £3 10s; forward cows, £3 18s to £4 lis; fat cows, £4 12s Gd to £5 7s 6d; bulls, £1 12s to £4 ss; lambs, 4s. On Monday I conducted a clearing sale at Omata on account of Mr A. N. Burke. There was a large attendance of buyers and excellent prices were realised for both live and dead stock. Bidding throughout ,was very brisk for all cattle and implements, prices obtained being:—Dairy cows in milk, £7 to £lO ss, f cows, £3; 18-month, in calf, Jersey heifers, £3 17s Gd to £4 17s 3d; Jersey weaner heifers, £2 to £2 ss; weaner bull, £1 10s; draught colt, £3l; trap mare, £l6; back, £l4 ss; mower, £ls ss, •spring cart, £ll 10s; drill, £l6; separator, £lO ss; dairy cows on account of other vendors, £5 10s to £7 16s; aged, £2 12s 6d to £3 15s; in calf, heifers, £5 to £5 10s. At my Rahotu yards on Tuesday I had only a small yarding of cattle, owing to the veiy wet day, some vendors not yarding their cattle. Prices realised were:—Mixed weaners, ISs to £1 10s; yearling steers, £2 2s; bulls, £2 4s to £2 8s; 20months in calf heifers, £3 7s to £3 15s ; store cows, £2 to £2 10s; forward cows, £3 15s to £1 ss; f.m. ewes, 5s 9d. During the week I have sold privately a good number of cattle at the following rates:—Fat ewes, 12s 6d; fat' wethers, 14s to 14s 6d; 4-tooth wethers, 13s Gd; Romney ewes, Ugns; rams, 7gns; lambs, 6s 3d to 8s 9d; weaners, best heifers, £1 15s to £2 ss; others, £1 5s to £1 12s 6d; weaner steers, £1 3s Gd to £1 8s 6d; weaners, mixed best, £1 6s to £1 12s ; others, 15s to £1 2s; store and forward cows, £4 ss; 2J--year in calf heifers, £4 10s to £4 17s 6d; 3*-year bullocks, £6 17s 6d; bulls, £3; fat cows, £1 17s 6d to £5 17s 6d, according to quality; 20-months empty heifers, £3 5s to £3 10s; 20-months in calf heifers, £3 15s.
