THE TERRITORIALS.

The camp of the 11th Regiment will be held on the Hawera racecourse from the 17th to the 25th April, the racecourse having been kindly placed at the disposal of the authorities by the Hawera Racing Club. The date for holding the camp seems to bo eminently suitable, as up to the present only three or four applications have been received for oxemp tion. It is understood that the exemptions from attending this camp will be granted, provided always, t*mt the request made is well founded. D* any case the leave is only granted o:i the distinct understanding that the applicants attend a casual camp to lie held about the 23rd May next. It is very evident that the Defence Department is doing everything possible to suit the convenience of the local contingents. The programme to be carried out in camp, although an elementary one, will be made very interesting; and the sporting instincts of the “terriers” will be encouraged. Physical drill null be introduced in a form which may be termed sugarcoated. The 11th Regiment’s camp is the last' to he held by the Wellington Infantry Brigade, and it lias been arranged to meet the requirements cf the farmers as much as possible. The camps already held in the Wellington district have hitherto been very (successful. , Every detail of, tin’s last camp is being carefully thought out—Post and Telegraph office, medical -officer, chaplain, barber’s shop, and dry canteen are some of the luxuries to be provided.- There is also a kind offer from the Hawera Church of England Young Men’s Society to establish an institute for the camp. Colonel Malone will be the officer commanding and Captain' F. H. Dampen iwill he Adjutant. ,Captain Dampen is making all the arrangements for the camp, assisted by his staff. Captain Dampen is to becomplimented for the excellent arrangements he has made. The atendance is expected to bo from 650 to 600.
